Education
Dr Peter van der Meulen graduated as a dentist from the University of the Witwatersrand (Johannesburg).
He thereafter qualified as a Prosthodontist, with distinction, in 1988 from the University of Pretoria (South Africa), where he received both Academic Honours and the Dean’s Award for Academic Distinction.
Accomplishments
Dr van der Meulen's passion in dentistry is the restoration of facial esthetics, based on cosmetic, phonetic and functional smile design principles, utilising advanced digital technology, all ceramic restorations (porcelain crowns and porcelain veneers) and implantology. Dr van der Meulen places special emphasis on Guided Surgery and Prosthodontics as well as immediate temporization and function, all of which are topics in which he has lectured extensively both nationally and internationally.
Dr Peter van der Meulen won 3rd place in the International NobelBiocare Creative Circle Awards Program for the Creation of Beauty and Esthetics in dentistry held in Las Vegas (USA) in June 2005. This was followed, again in Las Vegas USA in May 2007, with their team winning both 2nd and 1st place in this same prestigious international event.
Dr Peter van der Meulen was an international member of the NobelBiocare Global Pre-Launch Team for the Computerised Tomographic (CT) Guided Surgical and Prosthodontic concep. This is a treatment modality in which he continues to provide advanced prosthodontic training internationally. He has been awarded special recognition for his dedication, professionalism and high quality dental work in the International NobelEsthetics Publication.
All-Ceramic Crown and Bridge Prosthodontic Treatment provided by Dr Peter van der Meulen has been shown in Australia, Asia, Europe and the Americas.
In addition to his passionate commitment to his full time private practice, Dr Peter van der Meulen continues to lecture both nationally and internationally. Further, Dr Peter van der Meulen is a member of the International College of Prosthodontists.
