Covid-19 Protocol
Please find the following information relating to the Covid-19 pandemic which we are currently experiencing. Please contact us should you have any questions or queries relating to the protocol. We look forward to welcoming you to our practice.
Covid-19 Protocol: From phone call to waiting room to treatment room
When you phone in:

We will assist with the next available appointment.

You are kindly requested to telephonically answer the following questions as per SADA’s requirements:

Do you have a confirmed diagnosis of COVID-19?

Have you, or anyone coming in contact with you, had contact with someone with a confirmed diagnosis of COVID-19?

Do you exhibit any acute respiratory infection with at least one of the following symptoms?
-
cough
-
sore throat
-
shortness of breath
-
head cold
-
loss of smell
-
-
with or without fever?
-
Are you in quarantine?
If you have answered yes to any of the above, you must follow the steps prescribed by SA Government protocol:

Dental Treatment should be delayed by 2 weeks
Emergency dental consultations will be verbal
Upon arrival and during the visit:

You are please to remain and wait in your vehicle, to keep the waiting room empty where possible and to have the minimum number of people in the practice.

You must have your mask on.

Only the patient is allowed into the practice, unless parent, caregiver, etc is required.

The following protocol will be followed by the staff member while you are in your vehicle:

Your temperature will be measured with a contactless thermometer and noted (should your temperature be higher the 38⁰C, you are requested to immediately phone your GP or the National Covid-19 Hotline: 0800 029 999).

Your hands will be sanitised
-
A sanitised pen and clipboard will be handed to you with the “COVID-19 PANDEMIC Patient consent form” that must be completed. Should you have any of the symptoms on the consent form, you are kindly requested to reschedule your appointment for 2 weeks later.

If your hair is long, you will be offered a surgical hairnet to cover your hair.
5. Once we are ready for your appointment, you will be collected from your vehicle and guided to the treatment room.
6. Before entering the practice, your hands will be sanitised again.
Waiting areas:

We avoid the use of waiting room and reception area where possible. For this reason, you will be guided directly into the treatment room.

All unnecessary items, such as magazines and decorative cushions, have been removed from the waiting room and surfaces are kept clear, clean and sanitised.

You are requested to ‘hand sanitise’ on arrival and departure from the clinic.

All surfaces and high-touch areas (door handles, reception counter, etc.) are regularly sanitised throughout the day.
Treatment rooms:
1. Windows in the treatment rooms will be open to allow fresh air to circulate freely.
2. Please keep your mask on until you are requested to remove it.
3. You will be directed to rinse your mouth with a mouth rinse immediately after you remove your mask.
4. On completion of your appointment you are requested to immediately replace your mask.
General information:

All staff wear masks at all times.

Clinical staff wear shoe covers, scrubs, over gowns, hair covers, masks and when needed, also visors.

Treatment rooms are sanitised before each patient arrives.
